What do I learn?

Our French program is based on 3 general levels (beginner, intermediary, advanced) defined by the council of Europe and assessed by internationally renowned certificates.

What are the skills developed by each level?

Beginners	1st level	I can: Understand and use simple sentences concerning immediate concrete surrounding. Introduce somebody or myself, ask and answer simple questions. Interact in a simple way provided the other person is prepared to repeat or rephrase things and help you formulate what I am trying to say.
Beginners	2nd level	I can: Understand sentences and the highest frequency vocabulary related to areas of most personal relevance. Communicate in simple and routine tasks requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar topics. Use a series of sentences to describe in simple terms my people, living conditions, educational background, job…
Intermediary	3rd and 4th level	I can: Understand the main points of clear standard speech on familiar matters regularly encountered. Deal with most situations likely to arise whilst traveling. Connect sentences in a simple way in order to describe experiences and events, hopes, ambitions. Give reasons or explanations for opinions and plans.
Intermediary	5th and 6th level	I can: Understand extended speech and follow complex lines of arguments provided the topic is reasonably familiar. Interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers quite possible. Present clear, detailed descriptions on a wide range of subjects related to my field of interest. Explain a viewpoint on a topical issue, giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options.
Advanced	700hrs	I can: Understand extended speech and long and complex texts even when relationships are not signaled explicitly. Express myself fluently and spontaneously without much obvious search for expressions. Use language flexibly and effectively for social and professional purposes. Formulate ideas and opinions with precision, developing particular points and rounding off with an appropriate conclusion.
Advanced	700hrs+	I can: Understand any kind of speech and text with no difficulties. Present a clear description or argument with an effective logical structure. Express myself fluently and spontaneously and convey finer shades of meaning precisely.

How long does it take to speak French?

Each of Alliance Française Enugu’s level corresponds to about 100 hours of teaching.

3 different formulas enable you to complete one level in more or less time, depending on your availability:

V.I.P. (Very Intensive Program), 6 levels available
1 level = 1 session
Everyday from Monday to Friday
Time: 9am to1pm (30minutes break)
Total: 105hrs per session

E.V.E. (Evening Express Program), 9 levels available
1 level = 1.5 session
Everyday from Monday to Thursday
Time: 4pm to 6.30pm
Total: 60 hrs per session

Business class, 3 levels available
Year-long program
Saturday only
Time: 9.30 am-12.30 pm
Total: 111hrs per year

Special program for Bankers
Year-long program
Saturday only
Time: 2.00 to 5.00 pm
Total: 114hrs per year

How much does it cost?

Tuition fees for first 2008 registration:
V.I.P.:             N 6,800 per session
E.V.E.:            N 5,000 per session
Business Class: N 18,000 per year (1 installment) or N 20,000 per year
                      (2 installments)
Program for bankers: N 20,000 per year (1 installment) or N 22,000 per year
                      (2 installments)

CLAIM IT!! Students re-registering for subsequent 2008 sessions will benefit from a discount up to N 1,000 for V.I.P and E.V.E. classes!

Summer Afternoon Program for Secondary School Students
We keep your children busy during the summer holidays.

S.A.P.(Summer Afternoon Program)
Everyday from Monday to Friday, for 4 weeks
Time: 2-4.30pm
Total: 50hrs per session
Objective: Preparation to DELF Junior A1/DELF Junior A2/ CEFP1

On Saturdays, from 9am to 12pm

Primary 1 - 3
Children from 5 to 7 years will be initiated into oral French with Tatou, the cat that speaks French. This method is based on folk tales and proposes a lot of interactive activities, games and manual work.

Primary 4 – 6
Children from 8 – 10 years will make friends with 6 children from the 4 corners of the world. Together, they will discover Paris and progressively learn how to express themselves in French in concrete situations, in creative activities, games, songs…

JSS
Our programme and the book are based on the national curriculum. Our teachers, trained by the Center for French Teaching and Documentation (CFTD) are equipped to prepare the students for JSSCE.

SSS
The literature and civilisation exams on SSCE&NECO are challenging. They require proper preparation. Alliance Française is prepared to give adequate academic reinforcement.

Saturday Day Care
On Saturday, from 9am to 12pm

For 3 to 5 year old children whose brother or sister is attending French class – Sat. morning only.
